Four Flowers in a Row

Now I know that it's a lame title but this is what I started out with. It's a pretty stamp from Savvy Stamps and that's exactly what it is: Four Flowers in a Row.
I've been looking at the sketches on splitcoast Stampers and I really like these layered ones at the moment so this is what I came up with.

It's a fairly straight forward card to make.

Bags of Flowers

We've just had a consignment of beautiful flowers and, as usual, I couldn't wait to use them. This time I've decided to make a bag rather than a card and this is what I've come up with.




This is a very easy bag to make and I used the template that I have used in the past to make the bag. Here it is again for all those who haven't seen it before.

1. I used an A4 sheet of heavy paper for this bag. Light weight paper will not do, neither will card.
2. Draw the lines lightly in pencil on to your chosen sheet and score along these lines.
3. Fold along the score lines and glue the 1cm fold to the inside of the 3cm fold on the opposite side of the bag. This will form a tube. Let it dry. The time that it takes to dry will vary with the type of glue that you use.
4. Now fold the top of the bag over towards the inside of the tube. There is no real need to glue this.
5. Holes can be punched to thread the handles through. I used a single round hole punch. I marked the place for the holes first. Punch both the front and the back at the same time so that the holes are level.
6. Fold the lines along the base of the bag as if you were making up a parcel. Glue together. To provide extra strength you can glue a piece of lightweight card to the inside of the base of the bag.
7. To decorate the front of the bag use flowers from the romance selection of Mulberry paper flowers and some lilac ribbon. The sentiment is from the Inspirational sayings sheet that has so many wonderful sayings to add to your work.

However, I couldn't resist a card too so here's one that I made with some of the flowers from the same pack. I made it for my sister in law's birthday as she is a good friend as well as a sister in law.
As you can no doubt see, I've kept the same large flower but varied the center flowers and added some leaves to give a very different result. I did my usual dot and dash border which is brighter in the flesh but which came out a bit pale in the photograph.

I've decided to use the Oriental Splendour ATC sheet of stamps from The Merry Stamper today as it's been used by Cath Wilson in a Craft Stamper feature for the February edition. This card uses the same sheets that Cath used so you can do other things with your stamps.

I have made my card up as a 'Thank You' card as I also wanted to submit it in the Daring Cardmakers 'Give Thanks' challenge.

Oriental Half Plate

Base card in white linen finish
'Thank you' stamp from the Inspirational Sayings from I Brake for Stamps
Pink paper flower
Pink grosgrain ribbon with spots
3 buttons
Stazon in Stone Grey
Art and Graphic pens to colour the image.
Pink card to mount the image and the the background strip.

The ribbons are:
16mm Pink Organza
9mm azelia organza

To make this card

Stamp the image with Stazon in Stone Grey.
Colour it with the Art and Graphic pens 202, 200 and 56.
Stamp the saying and mount both the saying and the image onto pink card. Use 3D foam pads to attach both to the base card.
Tie a length of pink and azelia ribbon to the card and embellish the knot with a flower.

You will no doubt see from the following cards that I seem to have become obsessed by one stamp. I think that you'll have to agree that this is a lovely stamp and by ringing the changes with the background papers and colours used to ink the stamp, you can end up with some very different cards. I've used it with the Brushables and the Art and Graphic pens to create the different effects.

To make this card you will need:

1 Base card. I used a C6 card.

Iris stamp from the Flower Power sheet of stamps:

Art and Graphic pens in colours, 56, 3 and 1.

H2O waterbrush

3d foam pads

A sheet of toning paper

White 9mm grosgrain ribbon.

Stazon in stone grey

White card for the sentiment and the image.

What you will need to do:

1. Stick the paper to the bottom third of the card and with the white grosgrain ribbon, cover the join.


2. Stamp the image on to a piece of white card and use the pens and the waterbrush to colour it in. I stamped my image onto an oval piece of card but, an oblong one will be fine.


3. Use the 3d foam pads to stick the image to the base card.


4. Stamp a message on to a piece of card and trim to fir the base card. Adhere to the card.


5. Use the thin end of the blue pen to make a dot and dash edge to the base card and your card is finished.

All in Pink

Have you seen the Glamour Girls project in the October 2008 issue of 'Craft Stamper'? It's beautiful and worth buying a copy of the magazine for. Helen has done a wonderful job and I'm delighted to say that she loved the stamps. I've been spurred on to make more from them and this is today's effort. I've called it Ooh, La La and I think that you can see why.

Lilac Flowers

Four flowers seems to be the thing at the moment and my hand drawn calligraphy flowers have been neglected while I've been using the stamps. neglected but not forgotten and I got them out today to make this lilac card. What I Used
1 base card in white linen 14cm x 14cm when folded.

An extra piece of white card to draw the images.

What I did:
I cut four squares from the spare piece of white card and drew four flowers with the calligraphy pens. I did them slightly off centre. I used the green Art and Graphics to draw stems and leaves.
I used 3d foam pads to stick them to the piece of lilac card and made sure to leave a border all around the squares.
I then stuck this lilac card to the base card.
I drew around the base card with a dot and a dash line .
I stamped the sentiment at the bottom of the card.

I wonder what will come next. I won't commit myself as I need to see what mood I'm in.

A Medly of Calligraphy Pen Projects

Recently I managed to buy some beautiful card and heavy paper that has a pearl finished with a sheen of gold so I decided to put it together with the calligraphy pens and this is what I've come up with.

The first little card is using the blue set of pens and a small scrap of card. I did three different flowers to give the card a bit of an edge.

This second card is made with the pens again but this time I drew lots of different flowers with each of them at different heights.

Next I made a simple tag with the technique that I call 'shaky hand'. This is very quick as it is only one flower and little else.

My final piece is this gift bag which is the one that I made in my workshop.

Sunshine Flowers

When the weather is awful, it's been a perfect excuse to do some crafting. I know, I know, any excuse. This card is the result:

It's made with the Kuretake Calligraphy pens and a little bit of scrap paper that I had lying around. It makes me smile too as it's in sunny colours to counteract the rain.

Like lots of little girls my grand daughter likes handbags so this stamp is perfect for her as is the pink colour that I used to make most of the card.

To make this card you will need:
The Kids sheet of unmounted stamps from The Merry Stamper
9mm Swiss dot ribbon in hot pink
Pink blooms
TuT pens from Kuretake to colour the image
Crayon Kid Alphabet Rubber Stamps
Pink buttons
White and pink card

Most of the working for this card is fairly self evident. The printing of the word 'Julia' needs a little explanation.

Stick the letters to the mounting block, remembering to put them on in reverse order, otherwise the word will be the wrong way around when you print it. I didn't put the letters in a straight line as I believe that the harder you try to get perfection the harder it is to attain it.
Colour each letter with the TuT pens and vary the pinks to get a more interesting word. Print randomly over the base of the card as seen.
